Signing MoU with Seeds of Peace

The Centre for Environmental Sustainability (CES) at the University of Peradeniya in collaboration with Seeds of Peace, a non-governmental US-based organization, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to implement a Student Group for Climate Change Awareness (SSCCA) under the Climate Tank Accelerator Project. The MoU was signed by Dr. U. I. Dissanayake, Acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Peradeniya, and Mr. Qasim Aslam, Project Director of the SSCCA program, on 15 th October 2024 at the Vice Chancellor's Office. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Prof. Tilak Hewawasam, Director of CES, Dr. Nalin Suranjith, Deputy Director of Research and Environmental Management at CES, Dr. Mahlon Rambukkange, Coordinator of the Climate Tank Accelerator Program of the University of Peradeniya, Ms. Zahra Hajyani, Public Engagement Specialist at the U.S. Consulate in Karachi, Ms. Shweta Patole, Senior Program Manager at Seeds of Peace and Mr. Priyank Badola, Senior Program Coordinator at Seeds of Peace and Ms. Erandika Ediriweera, Deputy Program Coordinator, American Corner Kandy . This collaboration marks an important step toward enhancing climate change awareness and fostering environmental sustainability among university students. Through the SSCCA Program, our students will be trained to be youth leaders capable of engaging in meaningful climate action.
